SEO: Social Bookmarking Made Easy?

The following is the first of many to come on how to optimize your website to rank higher in search engine searches and gain more search engine traffic...a process called Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

 

Ok, I blog a lot. :)

And I've been using this nifty widget from ShareThis to be able to share my blog posts on the popular social bookmarking sites.

 

(According to About.com, social bookmarking is a method of saving and storing web pages in a single online location for future use or for sharing with other Internet users. Sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon and Reddit provide social bookmarking).

 

Many site owners use social bookmarking to get inbound links to their website or blog. These links help your site/blog score higher on Google and other search engine searches.

 

When you factor that you have to login to each social bookmarking site, then input the following post data:

 

1) Post Title

2) Post URL

3) Post Description

4) Post Tags...

 

...It takes at least one (1) hour to populate the most popular social bookmarking sites.

 

So you can just imagine my delight at finding a site that promises that once I input all the above information into the appropriate fields on the site...it can populate over 200 such social bookmarking sites (a process I call global social bookmarking) ...including the most popular ones, in 15 minutes.

 

Lo and behold I decide to test it:

 

I sign up for the additional social bookmarking sites found on this global social bookmarking site, only to find that upon inputting the post data...the global social bookmarking site appears to work, but then doesn't...the post data isn't submitted.

So I go back to the drawing board...

 

I try this nifty widget called Add This... as a Firefox add-on...but this widget this has so many social sites...some of which aren't social bookmarking sites, that I was a bit confused as to which is which, for the less popular ones.

 

So I use:

 

1) The ShareThis icon displayed at the end of each blog post to weed out the unnecessary social bookmarking sites and concentrate on the major ones.

 

2) Add This to automatically login to and submit post data to each social bookmarking site...using ShareThis as a guide.

 

Which drastically cuts down my time needed to submit to each site...but still not to an extent that I'm comfortable with.

 

As far as I can see, there unfortunately is no easy way to do global social bookmarking as yet...but a widget/website should be created...there is a huge demand for it!
