Have you checked your Twitter profile recently?
Well, while most persons were enjoying the holidays with family and friends, Twitter was busy implementing changes to your profile:
(You have to login to your account to see these changes).
1) Ads which were once only shown on the profiles of large brands, are now being shown at the top, right-hand-side of your profile.
Take a look and you'll see a large 350 x 250 ad posted there...and guess what?
They're yet to get the location (geo) targetting right. :)
I'm in Jamaica and more than likely Twitter, like many major US brands who've yet to discover that most Caribbean countries speaks English, would have put my location in Latin America.
So, wallah - I've got large ads in Spanish, for which most visitors to my profile won't even click on, because the ads are in Spanish.
2) They've really upped the "share/social bookmarking" ante and added a:
a) Nice Google+1 button at the top of each tweet, allowing you to rate the tweets you like in the Google search engine, by "+1 ing" them.
b) Share icon from AddThis.com to the bottom (end) of each tweet, so you can share your tweets on your myriad other social networks/bookmarking sites.
Yippee!
(Well, this isn't quite working as it should, as yet, as the link isn't being propagated properly).
But it's a good start.
3. Twitter has also added a translation icon at the bottom (end) of each tweet, which when clicked, allows you to see the tweet in your language of choice
(A nifty tool to have when people you follow, tweet in a different language).
Hmmmh... I wonder what other surprises are in store for us Tweeters?
