Google introduced its "+1 button" to a limited number of webmasters in April...
...On Thursday it introduced it to the world!
[Google's +1 Button can be placed at the beginning or at the end of an article or post and allows visitors to your site orblog to to rank your articles and posts.
This is similar to Facebook's "Like" button and actually emanated as competitive button to the Facebook "Like" button.
(Could it be that Google saw some of their advertisers migrate to Facebook, due to the popularity of their posts that were "Liked"?...well, we may never know :)]....
...But, Google is now telling webmasters and website owners that the more +1 votes your article, post or site receives, the more highly-placed it will be in their search results.
...as your visitors' clicking on the +1 button is an indicator of the popularity of your site or blog and its articles or posts.
They even say that Google search results will now show how many times the +1 button has been clicked for a particular site.
So it is essential that website owners, webmasters and bloggers:
1) Encourage your site visitors to click the +1 button, if they really like your articles and posts
2) Have the +1 button on your site, if you want to increase its page rank.
Please see details re the +1 button on Google's Webmaster Central site, here...
...and feel free to look at Google's Webmaster Central FAQs page to see how to place more than one button on your site (for numerous posts) and the corresponding change in code that is needed.
I will be looking through Google's Webmaster Central documentation or contacting them re putting the +1 button in the popular "Share" buttons that we bloggers use to make our social media-sharing effective...
...As I find putting an additional piece of javascript code at the top of, or below each post, to be a bit messy and inconvenient.
(I'll clue you in as to their response re this).

Editor's note: the Google +1 button can now be found at the bottom of each of MOUBlog's posts.
Please remember to click it, if you like the post it's associated with! :)
