Oxis International - A Stock Worth Considering

Today we'll be examining a company called OXIS International (http://www.oxis.com).

They research, develop and sell products that prevent the harmful effects of oxidative stress.

Oxidative stress is when the body's antioxidant and other defensive mechanisms to combat free radicals, are so overwhelmed, that the body's normal healthy balance is either lost or severely compromised. 

(According to Answers.com, a free radical is a highly reactive atom of oxygen and nitrogen that damages cells and is believed to speed up the progression of cancer, cardiovascular disease and age-related diseases.

Free radicals get into our cells via the air we breathe and the foods we eat).

OXIS International synthesizes (produces) the antioxidant called ergothioneine (a.k.a ERGO), which combats these free radicals.

ERGO is a water soluble amino acid, with multifaceted antioxidant powers (including anti aging properties).

Although ERGO naturally occurs in our bodies - from the foods that we eat, the quantities from our diet are too small to effectively fight free radicals.

...And so OXIS, through their patented synthetic manufacturing process, has developed a pure synthetic form of ERGO (l-ergothioneine) that can be used in cosmetics, nutraceuticals (substances with both medicinal and nutritional benefits), and therapeutic formulations.

These enable ERGO to be ingested and/or rubbed into the skin, in order to effectively enter the bloodstream.

OXIS, through their patented synthetic manufacturing process, remains the only significant commercial source of pure l-ergothioneine, worldwide.

In fact they claim to be the premier producer of this substance.

They have three (3) patents and two (2) patent pending applications that cover the synthesis of highly-purified ERGO and the protective effect of ERGO on mitochondria and other pivotal body structures and functions.

(According to Children's Hospital Boston, mitochondria are specific compartments within cells that act as the cell's power-plant. Mitochondria make and supply energy to the cell to carry out all of the cell's jobs. They have a small amount of DNA called mitochondrial DNA. Mutations in the mitochondrial DNA disrupt the production of energy in the cell).

This means years of being able to produce this substance commercially, with limited competition.

They plan to launch two ERGO-based products this Summer:

1) “Ergo-Pur™”  - ERGO-Pur , which is a pure form of ERGO, which they anticipate will be used in some cases in concert with:

2) “Ergo-Plex™” – ERGO-Plex, which  is a combination of ERGO plus other functional nutraceutical ingredients directed at Joint Health.

They say that their consumer products strategy addresses very important health concerns including aging and age-related disorders that are increasing in the US and might I say, worldwide.  These concerns include:

• Brain health
• Immunity against diseases
• Anti-aging/skin health
• Inflammation
• Detoxification
• Blood sugar regulation.

But OXIS doesn't only produce ERGO, they produce therapeutic compounds and clinical products like glutathione, which is an anti-inflammatory and detoxifying substance that is used to effectively treat Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

As such, OXIS International is well worth a look-over by potential investors. Their OTCBB (Over the Counter Bulletin Board) symbol is OXIS.

Very nice idea about stocks. To make money with penny stock however demands a lot from its investor. This is because penny stock trading is not bread and butter as life itself is far from bed of roses! It implies that you must be ready to make sacrifices in terms of your resources, time and if necessary energy in order to make money with penny stock.
