The following is the first of a 3-part series.
With many people losing their jobs due to the global economic recession, some who are Internet-savvy, will no doubt be looking to start their own home-based Internet businesses.
No doubt software developers are among those searching for business opportunities online.
And no doubt, as Internet addicts, you are constantly bombarded by ads on your favorite websites where advertisers promise you great riches if you buy their "Road to Riches" e-books.
...many of which will cost you over USD $47.
Unfortunately a lot of these so-called get-rich Internet schemes are just that - schemes and scams designed to get you out of your hard-earned money.
One way that you won't be swindled out of your money, however, is if you become a Facebook developer.
Facebook is one of the most popular social network sites that makes it easy for you to stay in touch with family, friends and associates. (They have over 70 million unique visitors, monthly.)
They have a developers corner where programmers can develop applications that would be of interest to Facebook users.
This is not peculiar to Facebook, however, as a few other social network sites e.g. MySpace.com, also have developers corners that facilitate this.
But what is great about Facebook is:
1) They will help fund your application development via their Facebook Fund (fbF) Grant Program. fbF is a developer application contest where winning application developers get between USD $25,000 - USD $250,000 in grant money. Yes folks, grant money...meaning free money (with conditions).
To be eligible, you must submit a business plan for your application prototype.
(Last year Facebook gave out USD $10 million via the fbF Program. )
The contest kicked-off on August 10, last year and consisted of two rounds:
In Round 1, 25 winning proposals were awarded $25,000 each. Each winner had the option to apply to to Round 2, where five (5) final winners were each awarded:
a) USD $250,000 to fund their application development
b) Mentorship from Facebook
c) Access to Facebook's marketing and publicity resources.
Please click here to access more information about the Facebook Fund Program.
2) You can embed ads in your Facebook applications that allow you to get paid when a Facebook user clicks on the ad or buys the product being advertised.
According to Social Media, an ad platform for social media sites, a few Facebook developers are earning in excess of USD $700,000 per month via this method, with many earning in excess of USD $100,000/month.

============
This is great news folks, especially for application developers and would-be developers, as you don't have to be super-developers to build a Facebook application.
Everyday-people can build Facebook applications, as long as they follow the guidelines given.
Well that's it for now, friends...
Please stay tuned for our next post which will highlight another legitimate opportunity for you to make great money online!
